The B.Tech Mechanical Engineering programme includes a significant amount of instruction on manufacturing processes. It includes a broad variety of processes and tools that are used to convert raw materials into final goods. The purpose of this course is to provide students a thorough grasp of various production processes and how they are used in the area of mechanical engineering. In this course, the following subjects are covered:

Importance of B.Tech Manufacturing Process

Manufacturing industries are often referred to as the foundation of development in general and economic development in particular. This is largely due to the fact that these industries not only assist in modernising agriculture but also help to reduce the heavy reliance of people on agriculture by giving them jobs in the secondary and tertiary sectors.

Industries that manufacture things turn raw ingredients into finished goods. It uses labour or machines to produce the completed items. The growth of manufacturing industries serves as a barometer for the country’s economic standing and prominence. The end of poverty and unemployment in our nation depends heavily on industrial growth. By building businesses in tribal and other underdeveloped areas, industries are crucial to reduce regional inequities.

Course Objectives:

1. Manufacturing Overview: Acquire a foundational knowledge of the manufacturing process and its importance across diverse sectors. Learn about various manufacturing processes, as well as their benefits and uses.

2. Materials and Material Selection: Learn about the qualities of engineering materials. Recognise the variables that affect the choice of materials for various industrial processes, taking into account elements including mechanical attributes, pricing, availability, and environmental effect.

3. Investigate various production methods, including as casting, forming, machining, and joining procedures. Recognise the guiding concepts, apparatus, and implements utilised in each production procedure.

4. Process Analysis and Optimisation: Enhance industrial processes’ effectiveness, productivity, and quality by learning to analyse and optimise them. Learn about waste reduction strategies, cycle time analysis, process flow, and lean manufacturing concepts.

5. Recognise the significance of quality control in the production process. Discover the principles of continuous improvement, statistical process control, and quality management systems. Learn how to secure the dependability and quality of your products.

6. Develop your knowledge of the software tools and procedures used in computer-aided manufacturing (CAM). Learn how to create tool paths, simulate manufacturing processes, and design items using CAD/CAM software. Recognise how CAD/CAM and CNC machines work together in automated production.
